Dorthy had a 45 minute drive to our area, we found our forever home in Hardy Va. There were some issues with the sellers side. The closing was moved several times. As we were ready to throw in the towel, Dorthy encouraged us along with Jessica at First Title, which worked very hard for our closing, to not give up! Finally it all worked out! She is honest and a straight shooter, which is a rare commodity in today's world. And that's just part of it , Dorothy went so far and above any real estate agent my wife and I ever worked with, no other has even been remotely close. And I can't stress this enough , I would recommend Dorothy to my best friends family or anybody that I knew that needed a realtor, and I don't say that lightly. The best thing of all that came out of this aside from buying our home is that my wife and I consider Dorothy a close friend. In fact, I am a bit weary of all the requests for this material. This is an exception, and I want you to take it quite seriously. And first, let me give you some background, which I trust will lend some measure of credibility to what follows. The real estate business includes many agents and operators who are either self-serving, or simply looking for “something to do.” I know this because I was in the business, myself. Thus it is to be expected that while the agent will handle all the “basics,” such as property listings, photos, open houses and similar, he or she may be less willing to go the extra mile when buyer objections are raised, or some presumed problem with the property arises. This is especially problematic if you are a seller who has already moved to a new location, and you need to rely on someone to handle problems when they occur, and facilitate and expedite the solutions. And that is where Dorothy Stolba makes all the difference. I learned about her from a family member who was a friend of one of Dorothy’s trainees. At the time, I was merely investigating the sale of my property, pursuant to a move out of Virginia in connection with my business. And I was not surprised when Dorothy called me, because, in the real estate business, “listings” are what it is all about. I told her that any sale would be at least months away, perhaps even more than a year. She was not deterred by this, and asked if she could visit to see the property for herself. I agreed to the visit, but insisted that my agreement by no means portrayed my willingness to put the property on the market immediately. She consented to that condition. Most remarkable about her visit was her attention to ME, as opposed to the property itself. There was no song and dance, no dog and pony show, about how she would market the property. She simply said, “I can sell this.” Thus I understood Dorothy not as an agent, not as a hired gun, but rather as a partner who took her proper place in my still fuzzy agenda to move to Maryland. My index of confidence in her was elevated, accordingly. Then at last, nearly a year later, I was finally ready to make the move. I had heard from her only occasionally, in the meanwhile, and then to ask only briefly how things were moving along. Consequently, when I contacted her to list the property, I would not have been surprised if she barely recalled who I was. But she did know, and what followed was a sales management campaign exceeded in scope only by the Allied plans to land at Normandy. Yes, I said “management.” Putting up signs, exploiting social media, and all such other activity makes a nice show. And everyone does it. But who will be there, for you, when buyers and their agents start their own campaigns to find fault with the property they say they want to buy? That’s where a “pro” really shines. Even though Dorothy has plenty of irons in the fire, she handles my account as if it were the only one she has. Her performance is above brilliant. And it is not just effort; she knows what she is doing. Thus the bottom line, for you as a seller or a buyer, is to expect a sense of confidence in Dorothy. And this confidence comes from three sources: the first is that she is a professional; skilled, courteous, knowledgeable, cool-headed. And the second is that she is morally honest and above any repute; she is trustworthy. The third? She is a person of good character, good will, and good nature; given to a sunny disposition. You’ll both like her and respect her. Every now and then, all of us have said we wished that “everyone” could be like some special “someone.” That’s Dorothy. Finally, two things.
